When it comes to business transformation and optimisation, there is no better place to start than mapping the current processes, whether its about product development or operating a business unit. Business process mapping forms part of the Business Process Management (BPM) software market segment, which is highly contended and expected to reach $10bn by 2020.

According to Gatner,

BPM is a discipline that uses various methods to discover, model, analyse, measure, improve, and optimise business processes.  A business process coordinates the behaviour of people, systems, information and things to produce business outcomes in support of a business strategy. Processes can be structured and repeatable or unstructured and variable. Though not required, technologies are often used with BPM. BPM is key to align Information Technology (IT) or Operational Technology (OT) investments to business strategy.

The latest to enter this market is Elements Cloud founded by the team (Ian Gotts, Adrian King and Richard Parker) whom previously founded Nimbus Partners and exited to Tibco with a similar but now an outdated technology proposition when compared with Elements Cloud.

Ian Gotts is a well known tech entrepreneur, established speaker, author of “Why killer products don’t sell” and a friend. When Ian first mentioned about Elements (then called Q9 Elements), I was excited to not just become a user of the product, but also to become a practitioner helping others to get the most of what Ian and his team are building.
